      Account Executive Interview

      10 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (Chicago, IL) in Sept 2015

      Interview

Found out through Employee Referral. Heard back one day later saying they wanted to conduct a phone interview and they gave me three available times. Typical phone interview where they want to gauge your interest, see how you will fit and whether to move you on to next interview. Questions were Why Yelp? Why Sales? Tell me about yourself? I know they sometimes to a role play in these but I never had one. Found out at the end I would be moving on to do a Skype interview since I was not in the area. Otherwise you would go into the office for an in person. Skype/In Person Interview will be with 2-3 sales managers for 20-30 minutes each. For the most part they will ask very similar questions and you will definitely do the role play. First sales manager was pretty nice but was very intimidating and made it very difficult to get comfortable. Role Play was about calling a Pizza Place and just trying to get the owner. They expect you to not do well they just want to see how you react and get through it. They will then give you feedback and have you go again. TAKE NOTES AND IMPLEMENT FEEDBACK! The second sales manager was much easier to be comfortable with. I immediately felt relaxed. Began by asking questions specific to my resume but it definitely felt more like a conversation than an interview. this role play was you had to convince a business owner to not go with an ad in the newspaper. Make sure you ask questions and keep them engaged. I happened to ramble about Yelp a little too much and was only negative of this part. After giving me feedback we didn't do it again and gave me time to ask questions. Found out a couple days later that they decided to go with other candidates
