      Inside Sales Representative Interview

      26 Apr 2024

      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Yelp

      Interview

The first round is a 30 minute call. The recruiter goes over what the job entails and asks the following: What previous experience do you have with sales? What do you know about Yelp? Why do you want to work at Yelp? Are you currently employed? Why did you leave your previous employer? How long do you see yourself working in Yelp? Why should we hire you? Are you okay with making 80+ cold calls a day? How do you deal with rejection? That's all I can remember but it's just a bunch of your basic interview questions. The second round is a 45 minute video interview on google meet. It starts off the same way. Beginning with the duties and responsibilities associated with the job and then you'll get asked similar questions from the previous interview. However, in this interview you are going to roleplay. Before you roleplay, you get to hear two recordings and you will get asked what the salesperson did wrong and what could have been done differently. The actual roleplay is simple. You will get on Yelp.com and choose a Pizza shop that is not currently advertising. You will call that pizza shop and try to get the business owner to invest in Yelp ads. The primary goal in this roleplay is to get the owner on Yelp.com. During the roleplay you are expected to ask a minimum of 3 open ended questions. Here are some questions I personally asked... What are you currently doing for advertising? Do you like the way it's working out for you? If there is anything you could change, what would that be? What problems are you currently having with your advertising? What would it do for you if you were able to bring in more customers? What are your business goals? The point is to learn as much as possible from the business owner so you can tell the owner that the next step is to get on Yelp.com so you can show the business owner how you can make xyz (whatever he/she said they wanted) happen. Round 3 is dependent on how you did in the roleplay. If they decide to move forward with you then you'll get an email to schedule a call. This call isn't an interview but more so a congratulations for you being chosen.

      Interview

Everyone was super nice and very clearly proud of Yelp culture. The communication was quick and clear on expectations of the interview and onboarding process. Both the recruiter and the hiring managers were very insightful about the business and offered great feedback to my mock call.

      Interview

It was okay, the salary is quite low and does not match the market for similar roles. I think that the actual interview is not hard, but it is hard to stay motivated knowing the salary number.

Why Yelp? How would you objection handle?
