I worked at RWDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Vacation time, gym stipend, small education stipend, sustainability projects

    Cons

Psychological harassment. Qualified Leadership. Ability to cross platforms or move up. Raise structure is based on personal discretion and not based on merit.

    Advice to Management

Leadership is difficult. It requires openness, patience, understanding and not micromanaging down to the period, space and comma. Working in an environment where every minute and every meeting your “leader” shows up looking miserable and having them inject their inner and outer unhappiness into your work is particularly challenging. There is very little positive inspiration, lead by example or team work spirit in this environment. This is something you would expect in a large institutionalized profit making environment. Not a smaller sustainability company. Sometimes one bad egg can spoil the bunch. Especially when they are in a leadership position. I would imagine operating from a place of positive inspiration and not fear based competitiveness would make a big difference at GBS, now RWDI.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RWDI (Waterloo, ON (Canada)) in August 2012.

    Interview

I was first matched with the company through the university co-op program. Was then interviewed in person by a senior member of the Air Quality team and a HR person. The interview was about 30 minutes long. Following the interview, I was contacted after 2 weeks with an offer.
