Pros

the coworkers modern office downtown location the snacks

Cons

Probably the most disengaged top leadership I've run across. President hardly ever present. Not realistic about how many people or resources are needed to meet the uninformed promises made to the customers. I inherited employees that were paid below their job grades but the company doesnt care enough to make it right. They'll keep underpaying but their not going to ask any less of those employees.) And HR is a larger department than they ever were but somehow have even less time and show even less interest in the employees. Could be for the best since the new ones act like they have no experience or time. HR person didn't even ask me about an exit interview or talk about what happens on my last day. I might be lucky enough to get a canned response on here with his regrets and ask me to connect now. You gotta care before its to late.

Posted on behalf of Keith Nicks, Digital and eCommerce Officer: Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. PDL has gone through a lot of change and growth in the last six months and we’re sorry that you had a negative experience. Building a modern technology company and delivering services at the same time is like replacing the engine on an airplane that’s already in flight – it’s challenging, a little unpredictable and bumpy at times. But, it’s also how you disrupt, innovate, and advance a company to make an impact. We recognize that we aren’t perfect but hope that our current employees will understand that we’re learning, growing, and correcting mistakes as we become aware of them, and we’re optimistic that things will continue to improve moving forward. I’m sorry to hear your feelings about HR, compensation and exit interviews. We do conduct exit interviews but if we have had multiple conversations with an employee and know that they are not happy and looking to exit, we don’t always take the time to have a “formal” exit interview. If there’s specific feedback you’d like to give as part of your exit, you’re welcome to set time up with me, the head of eCommerce for PDL, your people leader, or your HR representative. Again, thank you for taking the time to give feedback. - Keith Nicks, Digital & eCommerce Officer

Pros

They have snacks, and their work from home policy is fair.

Cons

Here's the deal.... This place is the most bizarre and negative place I have ever worked. Everyone is out for themselves and will step-on or blame everyone else for their lack of talent or experience. You're level of skills and contribution will have ZERO influence on your pay increases, promotion or basic acknowledgement of work. I have seen time and time again, Directors and VPs take credit for work they had nothing to do with. It is completely disheartening when other people, lesser people, get credit for the work and ideas they didn't develop. It's truly hard for me to completely explain the level of pervasive back stabbing and marginalization of their best employees. There is a reason the turnover is so high in a terrible job market. I don't think HR is intentionally bad, but they are focused on all the wrong things, and not the basics for the good and hard working employees... Having a hat day, is not helping the low moral, and utter discontent that is systemic across all the teams. A great example: When the company policy is to not give exit interviews to employees leaving in good standing, what does that tell you about an organization?

Pros

Nice downtown office. Across the street from Metra station. Free snacks frequent lunches

Cons

This used to be the best job, but now that the "mothership (Ahold Retail Business Services)" has taken charge of the operation the past year has been an absolute nightmare. Although Peapod "claims" to be an "Agile" environment, senior management imposes impossible deadlines on software development; this is NOT "Agile"! Senior managers completely dismiss engineers' dire warnings about delivering product that has not been fully regression tested against existing systems. Then when the inevitable disasters occur, said senior management blames the engineers. Don't be deceived by the "special perks". Peapod is now a software "sweatshop" and is no longer an enjoyable place to work.
