I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been with the Company for 3 years now and have worked at 2 agencies. The first Agency I worked at had the largest book of business in Southern California, so it was very overwhelming and fast paced for a beginner. It prepared me for the next Agency which i am currently at. I love the agency where i am, it feels like a family here and my boss is one of the most generous people i have ever met, very understanding and flexible when life events happen. She also offers a great incentive for commission on life insurance, most principal agents will take a cut on your commission and its not fair because agents usually do aaall the leg work anyway. But the agency where i am at makes me feel like i am appreciated for the work i do, my co workers are all nice and respectful, when i needed help my manager would guide me to do things properly and in an ethical way at all times always by the book. My boss in this agency actually provides benefits (401k optional, group ins) for us, except for health ins, she only pays half the cost. All in all it just depends on who is your boss and how much they care for their employees.

    Cons

Working in the first agency as a beginner where such a constant volume of calls, was very stressful, felt like my management could care less about my progress and only focused on my shortcomings instead of properly taking the time to train me. The constant volume in the agency kind of made no one make time for my progress. i also noticed that the volume in this first agency i was at made the pressure to perform sales was unrealistic and i noticed the behaviors of my peers seemed unhappy, cranky etc. Not to mention the fact that my previous boss pressured the lsp's with no life lic to get referrals or there would be consequences? I didnt see the point in this considering that they were already overworked and he never gave them a decent incentive for life referrals when usually that is the responsibility of a life agent. He literally could share the wealth and create an ambition for the other agents to go and get life leads but i noticed some principal agents are just that type of greedy and inconsiderate of their employees when theyre the ones that keep the business going in the first place.

    Advice to Management

Relax, please be respectful and be accountable for your employees training and make time for their progress and training.

    Pros

Great work life balance, with lots of opportunities to learn new data science skills

    Cons

It is very difficult to get with into production because the technology partners and business partners move so slowly. The pay is competitive with Illinois salaries but not adjusted for silicon valley.

    Advice to Management

Make technology partners accountable to users. They are currently incredibly difficult to work with and show no interest in feedback.
