I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pace is intense; great to throw yourself fully in to.

Great culture; everyone is there to get the job done and has their own quirks. No robots here.

Career progression; due to company growth rate and the internal support for employee growth, finding opportunities to grow into is not hard. There is no waiting for someone to leave to progress.

    Cons

Pace is intense; this is not great for everyone and managing burn-out is a real issue.

    None

    Pros

Such a fast growing company gives you lots of opportunity to extend yourself and get rewarded for hard work. There is also a lot of freedom working at Amazon where the leadership principals guide you and you define your own way

    Cons

You need to ask for support and manage your work/life balance

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredible pace of innovation, working with really smart people, very strong organisational rudders.

    Cons

Work-life balance is a consistent issue; RSU packaging doesn't encourage long-term retention of shares, which sort of defeats the purpose. Level increases/promotions are way more of a big deal than they need to be.

    Advice to Management

Keep innovating. Think longer term about people in the business. Fix the levelling system.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decentralised management structure allows for creativity, ownership and freedom. The company lives by their leadership principles more than anywhere I've seen, and it makes it easier to navigate decision making. Lots of brilliant people in a supportive and friendly environment.

    Cons

The growth is hard to manage, so you need to be flexible with dealing with suboptimal situations for brief periods whilst everyone arranges themselves.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. Don't create too many layers of management.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Enormous scale of the network.
    - Relative autonomy, nobody looks at your screen and rarely asks you what you're doing at the moment.
    - See something you can improve or automate - go ahead and do it.
    - Bleeding edge technology

    Cons

    - Like any other company this size - cumbersome decision making process.
    - Too much time spent trying to figure out who's responsible for what.
    - Geographically disperse, time-zone calculation can be a nightmare.
    - Slightly too fast-moving, moving on to the next thing way before the previous one is perfected.
