Toxic people. Avoid this place like the plague.

Pros

Benefits. About it. Not much else.

Cons

Toxic people and culture. Throw you under the bus for other’s poor direction and guidance. Managers take credit for your work and ideas but they get the promotions. Unless you’re coming from Gilead, forget about any career opportunities. Promotions and pay raises handed out not on merit and actual job duties but rather “what your manager can do for you”. Zero work life balance. Siloed functions. It is a churn and burn organization, unless you’re in the Gilead alum clique. Lots of small bio/pharma opportunities in the Bay Area. This would definitely be on the bottom of my list of best places to work and that is before you realize there’s gnats flying all over from that wall of plants in the break room.

Pros

Great benefits Great exposure for growth and learning Cross-functional groups are great team members Sr. leadership has a strong vision and mindset to lead.

Cons

Mid-level managers are not strong role models or leaders. Accountability is lacking as decisions are passed around until someone in a higher role can make the decisions for those below. Most contributors are overworked with the thought of empowerment more an idea than actually applied. Poor means of retaining employees; as people leave those that stick around get promoted/reward for unclear reasons other than to stay and fill the gaps. The one benefit I had issue with was with the Flexible PTO. I was denied PTO because I was going to exceed the "industry standard" for PTO. The intent of Flexible PTO is not meant to "reflect" and align with PTO in the greater market- if that were the case then employees are actually losing here.

Pros

Benefits, but those will surely be cut too so C-suite can get more promotions, raises and bonuses

Cons

Must be the most overpaid and entitled leadership team in the industry with nothing but one failure after another to show for it. Chief HR Officer and Chief Operating Officer are positions that should not even exist in a small company and neither deserved their promotions. C-suite takes more vacations than anyone in the company and then thinks the rest of us want to see their vacation slide show! They preach about cash runway and the need to lay people off and cut programs, but give each other promotions, fat raises and bonuses. It will only get worse when current CEO steps down. At least he has a personality, is nice and is humble. More than can be said for the new guy stepping in. This company will not survive the long game because they run it like Gilead.
