A company going downhill fast

Pros

Some really excellent people working on projects in a very exciting space. Small enough where you still have some ability to make an impact. The technical teams are incredible.

Cons

-Post-acquisition the company is a shell of it's former self. I wouldn't be surprised if Assa Abloy completely guts the company in the next year. This is being accelerated by clueless business teams making poor decisions and messing up simple things like listing products at the correct price. -There is a serious sexual harassment problem...and the company has worked to remove victims who speak out... -After the acquisition the company is stripping away benefits one by one. -As an employee you are not encouraged to raise differing opinions. The company has been churning senior level employees pretty quickly because they hire smart people who advise them to change decisions. After getting the feedback that they should do things differently those employees are targeted for removal. -Leadership is not transparent and sees employees as disposable. -The company is delusional with its expectations on new products and wants to nickel and dime customers. -Leaders aren't even confident in the direction of the business post-acquisition which is why there has been an exodus of many of them.

Pros

Free lunches and good San Francisco location

Cons

Is a terrible company to work for. They make garbage products and you get worked and overworked with no credit. Stay far away from the company. Competitors like ring have better products as well.

Pros

- A lot of bright minds here at August, you can learn a ton if you look for the right resources - Depending on what team you end up on, your experience can be awesome or extremely challenging - Creative team is extremely awesome. Quick and easy to work with. - CS team is awesome. Extremely friendly and helpful. - Tons of potential in multiple retail and Pro channels - Dog-friendly office - Situated right by ATT park and 15 minutes away from BART, 8 minutes away from Caltrain - PR is strong here at August, the company makes waves in tech news on a weekly basis (see Cons) - Eat club 2 days out of the week, catering on Wednesday (see Cons) - Unlimited PTO (see Cons) - Snacks readily available for the most part - Decent bathrooms (gender neutral)

Cons

- There's a lack of guidance here, from up top. Questionable management experience from above. - Lack of staff (Missing two key sales presence in sales/marketing team) - When I mentioned learning above, more so it's learning that I brought upon myself (not really a negative, but expect to reach out for learning, it will not come to you) - PR runs all...a bit difficult to work with when you're trying to reach realistic expectations while PR only cares about announces and reviews, regardless of product availability. - Creative feedback from many different directions causes projects to be delayed due to many revisions. - Management claims that everyone has to work as a team, but picks and chooses who is actually working as a team member, causing low morale (this is only in certain areas of the company). - Lack of standard, every time a new project or idea arises, it's almost like an entire overhaul, instead of having a standard and using that standard to build upon. - Unrealistic expectations for many projects, relating to deadlines and capabilities - The feeling that a lot of gossip happens (can't verify this to be true, but certain people give off a vibe if they feel a certain way about you) - No standardized work flow. Seems like if there is a project, it s a new group everytime that is working on it...involving the same people but leaving out others, which leads to bad communication. - Not sure there is room for growth in career. No support for further educational opportunities. - Perception seems to carry more weight than the work you do (this is almost at every job, but its amplified here due to small size of the company) - Company expenses can take forever to get back - No company cards. - Situated next to a homeless shelter - No parking lot for employees -
