Expanding too quickly to cope internally, people there often have no clue where their responsibility lies or should do. Management sort to cover their butts 1st and foremost. Alot of me vs them mentality. Management allows certain unreasonable behaviours to manifest to the point where it irritates other employees. Lack of communications from management to staff. Chronic lack of support staff because they need to get approvals from HQ to hire extra contractors even when eg some payments are well over 365 days old... (to small time vendors...) Alot of issues with high turnover of staff and no one is there to pick up their work. Hiring too many contractors.

Pros

- Company is generally performing well despite downturn in the oil and gas industry - Buyout by Shell was necessary to maintain relevance - Many high-performing individuals across teams (finance, energy trading, commercial, enterprise information management) - Offices are well-equipped and managed - Strong safety culture - it becomes part and parcel of your life

Cons

- Subject to the fluctuations of oil prices - Offshoring / outsourcing of certain functions has led to a braindrain, so many colleagues have left to join other O&G firms - I expect this trend to continue - Opportunities to move between teams are limited. (e.g. I tried to join the very large IT group but this was dominated by external contracts from large firms)

They took care of their staff - well paid, extra annual leave, flexible benefits. Collaboration between assets in different countries. Exciting projects and innovative ways of working

Cons

None in my experience. Was truly a great place to work.
