Pros

The Beck Family are wonderful people to work with, they give their employees Christmas presents and lots of other cool benefits. I rated their culture high on here primarily due to how the company itself expects their employees to act. The products are pretty good. Practical Farm Research is a great tool that the company has to help growers be more profitable.

Cons

Management away from Indiana is poor and loses a lot of the company culture, little room for growth within the company, not at all recommended for women looking to get into the seed industry, zero women in Agronomy roles or upper management roles and no assistance for maternity leave. The seed itself is rather expensive and it’s hard to keep customers on in times of economic distress.

Pros

The Beck Family is great to work for I have never worked at a place where everybody is so focused on the same mission. It's great Pay raises can be generous, but are starting to below average Get to work with new equipment "Free" lunches at corporate office

Cons

Poor Performers are not held accountable for there actions starting pay is on the low side even with experience Don't bring a complaint to HR because they won't do anything about it You work long hours in Production and Processing No work life balance Hard to get time off outside of Dec through end of March, even when you put in year advance No opportunity for advancement in Production. Production management won't approve a transfer or give you a reason why Production performance reviews are a joke, generic feedback. I have got the same feedback for 3 years and the followup for questions is terrible and is always late, if they follow up No career path or career development Production is all about speed not quality and safety Safety can be questionable sometimes in production You can be asked to do some questionable ethical things sometimes Good ol boy network, I have never seen a Senior Manager held accountable in 10+ years

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your experience with Beck’s. We are sorry to hear that your experience has not been what you may have hoped for initially. We appreciate you pointing out several of your concerns about the company as we are constantly seeking advice in order to foster beneficial changes. Within the Agriculture industry, there are definitely peak seasons in which we work hard to provide the best service for our customers. However, we also realize the importance of family as we are a family-owned company. Did you know that we have an entire team dedicated to educational and talent development? We encourage you to speak with the team to address some concerns surrounding career development. - Beck's HR

Pros

Beck family is great and truly cares for employees Most co workers are great to work with Long term career stability if your do job Nice facilities and equipment to work with Pay raises were good at one time, poor in bad year food in food years Great opportunities if you like to work a lot overtime Love working outdoors

Cons

Pay and benefits are standard Have been with company for 18 years, and upper management has only gotten worse. Most of the good mangers have left and the bad ones are left that should have got fired Don’t make a complaint to your manager or to HR because that’s puts a target on you and they will find way of to get rid of you. Have seen several good people file valid complaint and there gone within a year especially woman. Don’t file a complaint against employee whose a family member in a management role or your advancement in the company is done A lot employees and have other families that work there and it creates tension Good employees are starting to leave Becoming more like a large corporation where upper management is only concerned about themselves
