Pros

Working with children is fun. It is rewarding seeing children improve.

Cons

1. Staff is highly incompetent Applying for a role in Blooming Tree doesn’t require you to have training/previous knowledge in ABA therapy and you are promised to given a highly comprehensive training that you can progress in and gain competency via lectures, workshops and supervision. However in reality, this does not happen. You are sent to work with children with almost no training, having to deal with extremely challenging behaviour, left to “deal with” on your own. Because a lot of staff is not given the right training and lack experience, they end up using wrong approaches and/or getting physically or emotionally damaged due to the nature of dealing with challenging behaviour. Not only that you are not given the appropriate training, when you want to receive supervision or some sort of consultancy, it is more than likely that the supervisors are extremely busy and do nor have time so you have to “figure it out” yourself. 2. Staff are lied about the nature of the work Tutors are told that they will be working in an environment that they can use their expertise and background in teaching and/or psychology but are not mentioned in the beginning that they will be dealing with food, do the washing up and cleaning, sterilise equipment and also support children during lunch time, leaving them with only 30 minutes of break throughout the whole day. This leaves tutors exhausted, stressed and less motivated to do their jobs. 3. Staff are dehumanised There is no psychological/emotional support for the staff. They are treated as “replaceable” objects by the company, Most of us work for a ridiculously low pay, expected not to complain. Since more than half of the staff is on a work visa and sponsored by the company, are terrified to complain in the fear of losing their jobs and therefore having to leave the country. Because of the ridiculous contract you sign, they can fire you with only two weeks notice whereas you have to give the company 3 months notice if you wanted to leave. In conclusion, I would not apply to work with Blooming Tree as a tutor or send my children to the nursery.

Pros

Friendly staff and basic (but unsatisfactory) training.

Cons

Overworked, extremely low pay (minimum wage) even for those with multiple degrees which are relevant to the field and have extensive experience, poor management team (only interested in making money), lack of care for staff, no sick pay, no bereavement pay, no benefits except for a subpar pension plan

Pros

Children are absolutely lovely, pleasure working with all children.

Cons

Where do I start... Began blooming tree with very high hopes, staff were very welcoming, mentioned everyone here was a "big family"... first red flag that I didn't notice. Received training from a male worker there, he was absolutely great. Soon after this everything went down hill, many staff kept leaving as the pay was incredibly low for all what we have to do (18,000). Every single thing was so disorganised, senior staff did not take initiative and left around 5 newly employed workers to do as they please. MANY safeguarding concerns that were reported by staff were not seen through. Children were swapped with many tutors every other week, which can be traumatic especially for those with autism. Long story short, around 7 staff handed in their notice all at once due to the conditions of the blooming tree. They exploit you all for their benefit. Do not work here. If you think its all rainbows and sunshine, trust me you are in for a big treat. Everyone wants to leave but they hold you hostage saying you will have to pay a fee over £1000. Not sure if they are still doing this. Really just unfair for the children, as the staff try their best.
