Pros

CIM has a friendly work environment, with redundant work systems and personnel which is helpful if you are learning your duties and responsibilities. Varying opportunities.

Cons

There is limited mobility for career progression and you are siloed into your responsibilities and you will need to request for another position for an opportunity to grow.

Pros

Nice office environment, good amenities, supportive colleagues and solid benefits as well as opportunities to take on meaningful work and develop skills.

Cons

Management effectiveness is inconsistent and can create uneven workloads across teams. High performers often compensate for gaps in leadership capability and employees with strong technical knowledge tend to carry a heavier burden, leading to work/life balance challenges. There appears to be limited accountability in some areas and tenure can outweigh performance in retention decisions impacting team morale.

Pros

Health Insurance through Aetna has very good coverage. The cost to employees are low. Unlimited PTO adds to the benefits. Salary and bonuses are adjusted to match the cost of living. Growth opportunities in Investments, Portfolio Oversight, Development, Legal, Compliance.

Cons

People here work for paycheck. There is no sense of purpose and that reflects in people's face at all levels and in all departments. It's hard to be inspired in the existing environment and nothing is done to motivate employees. The proof lies in the annual attrition rate which hovers between 25% and 35%. Lack of growth opportunities in back office departments. Employees in these departments are treated as second class employees, The leadership and their judgments in these departments are also questionable, No one knows what value these head of departments bring. There is no effort in employee retention. Many deserving employees are not promoted unless they give in their papers. There are examples of employees given promotion every time they resigned which provides some fun conversation in otherwise mundane environment. While many not so deserving move up the ladder which you can easily tell by talking to them. There is one common denominator- when you leave the company, you will have a smiling face. Employees who never smiled during their time in CIM were seen smiling on their last day in CIM.

Pros

CIM Group is well-respected in the real estate and investment industries, providing employees with the prestige of working for a recognized firm. CIM Group has a diversified portfolio, including real estate, infrastructure, and debt investments. This allows employees to gain exposure to a variety of asset classes and industries. Known for providing opportunities for career growth and professional development, often promoting from within. A firm that has a long-term strategic vision and a track record of successful investments can be rewarding and provide a sense of stability.

Cons

The firm has a high-performance culture, which can lead to pressure and stress, particularly for those in investment and management roles. Like many firms in the real estate and investment sectors, employees may face long working hours, particularly during key deal-making periods or project deadlines. Some may find the corporate structure to be rigid, with less flexibility in terms of work-life balance or creative freedom. While CIM Group has a significant presence in North America, its global reach is more limited compared to some other large investment firms, potentially restricting opportunities for international experience.

Pay was good - $90K plus 15% bonus opportunity annually

Cons

Setup long term employees for failure. Create false narratives about you to fire you, even though every review was positive for 13 years and you received promotions .
