The Tinder Swindler but it's clinical research
Pros
The main pro here was the excellent people I worked with on site. They were dedicated and really knowledgable, they made a tough working environment tolerable, even fun. The PIs I worked with really wanted to engage with research and were eager to get their projects going.
Cons
There was absolutely no transparency in organisation structure, I was always unsure who was supposed to be boss. One day you would get hounded with calls and emails demanding updates on projects, but when something went wrong absolutely no one would pick up the phone to help. Toxic is the word that springs to mind here. To their credit, management at this company were always very creative. They went to great lengths to utilise every excuse imaginable to get out of paying their staff, and it was always someone else's fault. They really were chronically victimised by the universe in general. The combination of not being around when things go wrong, and not paying those who have provided services to you means that staff on site are often at the receiving end of queries about unpaid invoices, which is so unfair, inappropriate and embarrassing for staff members yet management don't care, sure it isn't their fault anyway. The way management spoke about staff members both internally and to other site staff was just appalling. Staff turnover is extremely high. TLDR; this crowd couldn't run a bath.
