I have been working at Collette full-time

    Pros

Great healthcare, friendly coworkers, paid vacation/sick/personal time, opportunity to travel on a guided tour maximum 1 time per year based on lottery system, on site wellness center/gym, 4 hours paid volunteer time a month, bonus (depending on business success) each year

    Cons

Below average pay for industry, very hard to move from one department to another without experience in that specific department, not a lot of opportunity to advance as they tend to hire outside instead of promote from within (even though they say they do), parking is limited near buildings - have to cross busy street to get to main parking lot and that's usually full.

    Advice to Management

Take notice when people give their notice/quit and identify if they are leaving due to lack of salary incentive or lack of growth opportunities, review the pay grades for all levels and don't consider healthcare/paid vacation/sick/personal time as "cash compensation" when it's standard at most companies by law

    I worked at Collette full-time

    Pros

Gym onsite, benefits that is probably it

    Cons

Based on my experience within my department - It became very apparent exactly how different working here would be just 2 weeks in. They are family owned, which means no matter how well you do, members of the family and those who have become close to them will always succeed. There is a mass exodus happening in many departments because they promote managers who know nothing about managing which results in poor relationships and guidance of their direct reports. Everyone knows your manager is many employees' main reason for leaving. You can be the most incompetent employee/manager but if you are a blind follower and don't dare to question things or have any respect for yourself, don't forget you have to be a family member or very close to them, you will succeed. No development opportunities if you are in that stage in your career, you will be mocked, spoken down to, ruled by fear and if they decide they don't like you because who knows, maybe you don't look like them, and talk their talk....they will do everything they can to speak of you and your abilities to everyone possible to ensure you feel alienated. This is high school and the senior leaders, top managers and hr are the bullies.

    Advice to Management

    no use in giving advice

    Pros

discounts on travel, pretty good healthcare

    Cons

too many to list in full, but really old building with mice, no parking, family owned so no advancement unless you know someone, unqualified management...

    Pros

You get to travel... sometimes. If you're chosen (which is basically given upon favoritism or if you are sales.

    Cons

    Where to begin...

    - Terrible upper management. They have 0 idea what they are doing
    - Promote family and best friends, that is basically it. Adding 0's to their paychecks and that is all.
    - Don't listen to advice or care about their employees unless they are family (as stated) or are one of the favs. Leads to poor morale.
    - HR is a complete mess.
    - Cheapest. Company. Ever. Talk about being underpaid.

These are just a few things, but there are so many more. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away as possible. If you are unfortunate enough to have gotten a job here recently, give it a year. You'll soon understand.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES! Value the amazing ones which there are a lot of if you took the time to pay attention to anyone outside your family. Open your eyes to what people should actually be making in terms of salary as well, it's such a poorly run company that it is just embarrassing.

    Pros

There are many great people who work here. The company has an on site gym that is pretty nice if you can use it. They also sell travel, so you are pushing a great product and get to sell someone their dream vacation.

    Cons

Be prepared to dedicate much of your own time to your work at Collette in addition to your regular work day. Lots of favoritism with the management teams too and if you are not a favorite your hard work will go unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the favoritism.

I have been working at Collette full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most coworkers are awesome, friendly, helpful. On site gym is a great perk. I hear health benefits are great (never needed them have them with my partner). Love the open door policy with most upper management.

    Cons

Practice what you preach. If you are not part of an “in crowd” you have no chance. Many managers/directors want “yes” people and not people with experience and knowledge so they can take all the credit. Just because you are family or friend of family doesn’t make you automatically qualified for a management role.

    Advice to Management

Stop being all about the money and look at why so many talented people keep leaving. Pay better.

I have been working at Collette full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Collette's culture is the best I've ever experienced! Everyone is friendly, willing to go the extra mile, and is really invested in its employees. It's difficult to feel included among 600 employees, but Collette really works to get to know each employee as a person rather than a number. I feel encouraged on most days. The benefits are outstanding-- when it comes to the total package (pay, health benefits, and time off) they take care of employees.

    Cons

Like most businesses, company direction can change as a result of the numbers, which means being nimble and needing to adapt quickly.

I have been working at Collette full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, convenient commute off the highway, gym if you are allowed to use it...

    Cons

Sad to say working here for the past 2 years has uncovered more negatives than positives...

Collette is supposed to be a family company but they only offer 4 weeks of maturnity where the pay is only 66% of your original pay.

The pay at this company in general is terrible...my entry level job pays as much as the 2x higher title at Collette.

That's if you're even able to get a salary position...I've found most are hourly, which is very sad.

    Advice to Management

Since this is a $300+ million/year "debt free" company how about spreading the baseline wealth across your employees.

    Cons

low pay for all the hard work - some people who have been there forever and dont pull their weight dont get reprimanded and makes others work harder
