Pros

Overall, it’s a good job with flexible hours and (for the most part) supportive management that genuinely tries to help when possible. The work environment is usually positive, and I enjoy interacting with guests. When it is slow, I am allowed to work on homework.

Cons

When it's busy, the workload is very demanding, especially since the Bistro is often run by just one person. I’m responsible for taking orders, making Starbucks drinks and alcoholic beverages, cooking and serving food, bussing tables, cleaning the kitchen, and closing everything down at the end of the shift. It’s a lot to juggle alone, particularly during dinner rushes. If you are interviewing for a courtyard bistro position, I would ask them how many people are normally staffed at your location.

Poor Management. No Support. No Growth.

Pros

The discount is the only pro

Cons

Poor management that holds no one accountable. They only care about things that directly affect guests and the guest reviews. Nothing is ever fixed, we still have equipment that has been broken for 4 years. The a/c never works in the kitchen so it's a dangerous work environment. The air vents and guest rooms are full of black mold, but they just put wallpaper over it. Management is only worried about their bonuses at the end of the year. Managers drink on the job and can never be found when help is needed for service. Managers deflect when issues are brought to their attention. Employees do whatever they want with no consequence. They make employees do the job of 3 people but don't pay what they deserve. Schedules are either posted last minute or not at all. Employees steal whatever they want.

Pros

The guests were always lovely, and made the job fulfilling.

Cons

Management was awful, no support from them. Favoritism, enabling one person something but not the other. No structure; expectations and rules change by the day. Upper management turns a blind eye to misconduct and abuse of all forms. No loyalty from the company to its employees. Wage theft, illegal time clock adjustments, sexual harrassment from superiors, hostile work environment, all condoned by upper management.

Pros

The atmosphere can be nice, especially during the slow seasons. There are often chances for personal growth and development, and the team environment can bond.

Cons

The role is demanding and can sometimes be overwhelming. The fast-paced environment may lead to unnecessary stress, and the hours can be unpredictable, which might affect work-life balance.

Pros

Clean work environment, nice office, fun coworkers, very relaxed management.

Cons

Offered us an extra $1 an hour for our salary if we got the COVID vaccine, and during a literal pandemic, that's hard to pass up. That was a little strange. But other than that, it was a great job. Not much room for growth, they'll usually outsource for higher-up positions.
