Pros

Only positive was staff discount (70%) and The lack of KPIs

Cons

Where to begin.... inexperienced and poor leadership and a lack of empathy towards staff. toxic bullying culture and manipulation. Management are Grossly incompetent and have contributed to more than a dozen resignations. Absolutely no accountability or consequences to their actions. The company preaches about kindness in the workplace, the importance of autonomy and treating others with respect. Didn’t see an ounce of that displayed within the company.

Pros

Stable hours Good staff discount Relatively inclusive environment (look at cons) Good staff benefits like parental leave, LinkedIn Learning, days off for Birthdays, Right to Protest, etc Nice co-workers No personal KPIs, so stress free when working in-store Some workers in management do genuinely care about their employees

Cons

Despite being explicit about biases in things like DEI training, the managers in head office have ableist expectations of their workers, so really much like any corp it is just a facade. Beyond their stores in the suburbs, it serves a very gentrified rich white clientele so that likely speaks to this type of performative culture. I think the company lost its spark after the Estee Lauder takeover, and with how they treated the company’s own founder’s mental health crisis, it’s really more a better corp because of good staff benefits but still very much a corp type situation.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide this feedback. At Deciem, we have a strong focus on belonging and inclusivity, with kindness at the centre of everything we do, so we're saddened to hear of your experiences as this does not align with who we believe we are as a company. If you feel comfortable, please reach out to kmo@deciem.com so we can learn more about your experience and we will ensure this feedback is passed on to the right people and provide more training for our managers to ensure this is not an experience that others will have in the future.
