Pros

The social media hashtag #DCLAFAM that I saw on Dominieren’s social media profile before joining the team almost a year ago, has a deeper meaning to me than I ever imagined it will. Working at the DC really truly gives you a sense of family outside of your own family. While it is still a start up - great part of the experience because we are learning and growing together - there is a great sense of “teammanship” here. We work hard and play equally, thanks to the work culture fostered by our awesome CEO and HR manager. They are always ready to help and make adjustments for the betterment of us individually and for the projects we are working on. I have learned a lot here since I began and my creative skills and imagination has grown exponentially since I started here this is especially due to working closely with the CEO. She always has great impute to what I or we are working on that results in project we're really proud of. I love that we have creative freedom here and freedom of expression. One day our CEO came in to the morning hurdle and played ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars encouraging us to be our unique selves and embrace our individuality. There is no micro managing here and the working environment keeps you on your toes positively. At times, things get intense as we get busier but which area of life does not have that?

Cons

None I can think of.

Pros

Paid internship. Great culture. Work with the CEO directly and learning A LOT. Provision of latest software needed to help improve your skills. If you don't have it simply make a request and they will get it for you. Free coffee and tea and lots of free healthy snacks and paid lunches with the boss and HR manager at nice restaurants. Field trips to apple store and other companies to help you improve you computer skills. Awesome location close to inexpensive restaurants like Burger Lounge, The Poke Bar and Whalburgers. When I started here as a graphic design intern, my design skills more of Disney style and for younger audience but my skills and design style have grown exponentially because the CEO worked me to help me improve and curate skills to fit a more mature audience. I love it here!

Cons

May be parking but nothing else. I don't mind it. I know how LA is.

Pros

First of all, for a start-up company that has been around for just a year and three months, the growth in the company is quite impressive because it is a sign of what is likely to come and what is in store for me with this company. Creative Freedom - as an intern, who has had an internship before, I like working here because it is a hands-on experience. In my previous internship. I was required to do as stated only. Creativity and new ideas are always welcome and it is often discussed with the team and the best solution is implemented. Hands-on, Real working experience - here, the startup nature allows you to have a real life, hands-on work experience because almost everything thing you do is utilized by the company and you can see your involvement and contribution to the company which gives you a sense of pride. Flexibility & Understanding - the working/internship environment here allows you to test your self-reliance ability and self-governing skills, which gives you room and freedom to be more creative and learn responsibility. This is deliberate by management because they believe in their interns. Some people might prefer to be spoon fed but I personally like this better. In other internships where your work is simply dictated by a senior or lead, you have to do only what you are told and the responsibility and credit are on and for the manager. Here you get to see your growth and your contribution is recognized. When you do something noteworthy, management shares it with the rest of the team. You are not micromanaged by seniors or management and you can always reach out to someone with more experience. Understanding & Assisting - Senior management here has an open door policy. Ideas and concerns are always welcome. The HR manager and CEO are very nice and they always willing to assist. They look for ways to help employees grow not only in their role at work but also in personal life. When they sense that something is off about you, they will call you into a meeting and ask you what is going on and if they can help. They don't just listen they try to find solutions for you. I cannot speak for all, but this has been my experience. The CEO is unconventional and is a revolutionist. She is very nice and sees us as a work-family and encourages work and play time balance and encourages us to have big dreams.

Cons

Honestly, I can't name one. I am very aware that this is a start-up company and things are still being structured and developed. I don't have the same expectations as a company that has been around for 5 or ten years. For where the company is, I don't see any.
