Pros

If there was one, I never found it. Seriously I think this place could be an asylum masquerading as a legitimate business. Remember to take your anti psychotics instead of lunch.

Cons

Very unprofessional toxic environment. Employees are basically treated as slaves. Customer service is a joke. Have fun getting yelled at and then justifying your purpose to the company when they fire you without pause.

DON'T DO IT

Pros

Decent pay, decent benefits, quarterly happy hours where the office shuts down (all but the member services department)

Cons

This is a company is all about who you know and SUCK UP too. You get ahead by having little knowledge and a great social game. The people that come to work and do their job are stuck where they are because they are too "valuable" to lose by promoting. They promote from within but normally already meet with the person they want to promote before posting the job so you have no chance if you haven't already talked to the manager of that department. Calls in member service are nonstop and they will take your lunch hour away from you and buy you pizza so you can continue taking calls, you have to email your supervisor to make sure its ok to use the restroom.

Dominion is highly committed to customer service, quality and the employee experience. We are especially proud that we were selected as one of the “Best Places to Work” in Virginia in 2014, which was based on employee feedback and other measures.

Pros

Nice Office(very up to date), Metro Accessible, Willingness to promote from within, A few good departments My time at Dominion was not terrible. I was fortunately in a good department. There may only be three departments that I can vouch for that are worth working in. During my time at Dominion I definitely had a larger work load for many years, however I did not mind it as I was able to learn so much. MY MANAGERS had my back. For other supervisors and managers I cannot say the same. I was lucky enough to have a manager that encouraged my growth and cared about my professional development. I was LUCKY.

Cons

Toxic Work Environment: There were a few who were very hard to work with as they could not separate work and personal feelings. I worked a lot with all staff and I have had the phone hung up on me by a few, yelled at by many. The amount of disrespect amongst co-workers was just plain toxic and it makes it an environment where you either stand up for yourself and fight back or you get walked all over as this type of behavior was allowed. Lacking Equality: You will see so many employees get away with so many different things that should not fly , however only a few would be reprimanded and the others would get a slap on the wrist. Nothing was black and white. Laziness from other employees greatly affects your work: There are so many times you will get yelled at or hear the annoyance in so many employees for just doing your job the right way. So many want to cut corners or they just pass it off. The problem is only evident to those who go above and beyond and actually care about their work. To give your all and to always try your best to then see employees who CLEARLY did not deserve their position and just not care about their work get ahead or just get the work taken from them as opposed to being held accountable destroyed my morale. I became bitter and literally gave half my effort knowing then that even my half best was still better than most people’s best. Overworked and under paid: For many years I worked pretty much enough for two people and took on any task given to me. I loved the challenge BUT after applying to other jobs you can clearly see overall unless you are at Director level and above the payout distribution for what you did was not fair. The expectation at Dominion was get the work done however you need to. So if you need to work over 8 hours a day and come in on the weekends that was expected. THEN they want to turn around and nickel and dime you on your time. If you want people to work hard and not have a life outside of work create a better time & attendance policy. The work from home policy just got instituted and many managers were so apprehensive to even offer it. There were no benefits at Dominion that made me want to work harder. Not enough transparency: There were always so many secrets and even during town hall meetings everything is sugar coated and not really painting a clear picture of the severity of the situations that would come up. I don’t think task wise as a whole for various departments was made clear and I don’t feel like I always knew what was going on. Integrity: Ultimately Dominions morals did not align with mine and I cannot work for a company I can no longer stand behind. Integrity means a lot to me and from my point of view the employees who did have integrity got the most push back from upper management and peers. They don’t care about doing the right thing just the best thing for the company. LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM: The costumes allowed at that company were a joke. I do mean costumes. From Tutus, to too tight of spandex like a Kardashian, to red leather over the knee boots and CROP TOPS. I questioned if employees actually knew they were coming to work or going to the club. For someone who spends time and money on professional clothing it was a slap in the face. There is a dress code. I personally got reprimanded three times and compared to what was allowed made zero sense. If the rules are put in place PLEASE make your staff follow them.
