      A well-run and ethical company

      Pros

      There is a real focus on providing employees with opportunities to develop and work on interesting projects, even during the height of survey season. The senior management strike a good balance between leaving staff to run their own projects and providing support where it is needed. There is a really positive working atmosphere as a result, which I have not always found at other companies. Everyone at the company is easy to get along with and hard-working, and genuinely cares about the work they are doing.

      Cons

      The company undertakes a lot of bat work, including on some really interesting sites, which generates a lot of nocturnal work! Nevertheless, everyone mucks in with the surveys to share the load.

      Pros

      We work on a range of really interesting projects and get to see them through from start to finish. We are trusted to manage our work and time within a very friendly and supportive team. There is a lot of flexibility and a great work-life balance. Night work is managed to ensure that staff don't burn out during peak season. The majority of projects are relatively local so there are few long distance trips or overnight stays. I would definitely recommend working here!

      Cons

      Only those associated with working in the ecology sector such as unsociable hours and the occasional night away from home.

      Great company ethos and atmosphere

      Pros

      We're trusted to manage our own time, given lots of responsibilities (and therefore gain great experience) and enjoy a completely flexible hours policy. Everyone is really friendly and the atmosphere and support network here is fantastic. Ecology by Design is by far the best company I have worked for.

      Cons

      Only cons are those of ecology in general - i.e. long and unsociable hours during the survey season.
