This is a family-run business, which is where many of the core issues originate. Leadership is lacking in direction and accountability - white boys club. The CEO is largely absent, and the COO lacks the experience and insight needed to effectively run the organization. Unfortunately, individuals hired from outside the family or inner circle often don’t stay long, as new ideas and more efficient approaches are typically dismissed outright.
There is minimal structure, and decision-making is highly reactive, driven by personal preferences rather than data or strategic planning. Professionalism often takes a backseat to personal relationships and emotional responses.
For women, especially, this environment can be particularly discouraging. There are no women in senior leadership roles, and contributions from women are frequently overlooked. Assertiveness is not welcomed—it is often misinterpreted as being “troublemaker” or “disrespectful.” As a result, opportunities to make any meaningful change are impossible.
