Pros

I love that ADP starts all employees with 3 weeks vacation a year and increases from there! The benefits also start from day 1 and, RRSP matching up to 5% which has helped me save a ton of money for my first house down payment. ADP has many events to break up the days and months, like game days and food truck days throughout the summer! If that wasn't good enough, my experience with ADP and my struggles with my mental health have been very positive: when I needed to take time off, I was able to take leave, and my return was as gradual as I needed it to be so that I would be successful upon my return. I can always talk to my manager or even other managers about any struggles I need accommodations for. ADP has given me the stability of a Monday-Friday gig while also allowing me to leave work and basically forget about it until tomorrow; managers don't hassle employees after hours. I love having the opportunity to learn and to problem solve and do research, even though I never thought I'd be working in a financial world!

Cons

The perks with ADP are awesome, the actual job is less awesome. BUT It's not bad! It is a call centre environment which means handling clients on the phone and via email which for me is not my favourite part of the job. Sometimes clients can be irate, sometimes patience grows thin. This, I believe, happens at any workplace that deals with clients, tight timelines, and money. Sometimes because we have so many employees, and so many locations even just serving Canada, it is difficult to know who to talk to about what issues, but for the most part that can be solved with asking around.

Pros

- Established company with a long history and relatively stable business operations. - Provides a sense of job stability compared to many organizations navigating rapid changes in the current AI-driven market. - Lower risk of frequent restructuring or large-scale layoffs than many high-growth technology companies. - Opportunity to work with experienced employees who have deep institutional and domain knowledge. - Predictable work environment that may appeal to individuals seeking long-term stability over rapid change. - Strong choice for professionals who value job security and a steady career path in an uncertain economic climate.

Cons

- Documentation is limited or rusted, and many operational processes lack clear runbooks or standardized procedures, making onboarding and troubleshooting more difficult than necessary. - If you're coming from a modern, fast-paced engineering environment, the organization may feel behind current industry practices and tooling. - Internal politics can sometimes outweigh technical merit or execution. - There are teams with very long-tenured employees where change and innovation can be difficult to drive. - Decision-making often involves multiple layers of approval, resulting in significant bureaucracy and slower execution. - Processes can move slowly, and collaboration is not always transparent across teams, leading to inefficiencies and occasional confusion around ownership. - In some areas, roles, responsibilities, and operational processes are not clearly defined, creating unnecessary chaos and inconsistent ways of working. - Engineering standards and best practices vary considerably between teams, making cross-team collaboration challenging. - Organizational change tends to happen slowly, which can be frustrating for employees who are focused on modernization, automation, and continuous improvement.
