Pros

You will be supported by both operational and clinical senior team members throughout your training and throughout your employment. There are multiple opportunities for progression depending where your passion or interests are. A very knowledgeable senior clinical team, time is taken by them to review feedback and challenges. Achievements are acknowledged and celebrated. Even with remote working, you still feel like you are able to develop positive work relationships.

Cons

Your initial training can be a challenging time, you will have to demonstrate both professional and emotional resilience during the first 6 months. You receive a high level of feedback during this time, if approached with an open and constructive mind frame, this can allow you to become a strong, confident knowledgeable functional assessor. Being open and honest with both clinical and operation staff with any challenges you are facing, will result in additional support, supervision and coaching.

Pros

The work is the same as it was at my previous company where I was doing the same role with the aim of 5-6 cases a day, but management is so much more supportive and cares about your well being. You feel much more autonomous rather than micromanaged and that has been absolutely amazing for my work life balance and job satisfaction. I was with my previous company for two years and there was not even the hint of progression despite repeated requests and being told I was performing amazingly. I was only at Advohealth for two months before being encouraged to apply for the NET trainer role and succeeding in doing so! Advohealth is very much forward thinking rather than reactive and rewards people when they are doing the best they can rather than expecting more which prevents burnout. I would definitely recommend this company to work for. The work is intense and difficult at times as it is in all places but management seem to understand that and there is much more support in terms of regular training and check ins to see how you are doing.

Cons

The work can be difficult at times but that is solely as it is the role of a functional assessor and not a reflection of advohealth.

Pros

Working as a Paramedic Functional Assessor with Advo Health has been a positive and rewarding transition in my career. One of the standout benefits of the role is the excellent work-life balance it offers, which is a significant change from the demands of frontline paramedic work. The training has been quite intensive, and at times I have found it challenging to adjust to the volume and depth of new information. However, this has been balanced by the strong support provided throughout the stages and training process. The trainers and mentors have been approachable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed, which has made a noticeable difference in building my confidence in the role. I also had great support by my colleagues within my training cohort, which also helped me through the initial stages and training process. As I continue to develop, I am increasingly enjoying the position. It offers a new perspective on client care and allows me to apply my knowledge and experience as a frontline Paramedic in a different way as well as develop and further my assessment skills as a clinician. Overall, despite the initial challenges, this role has proven to be a worthwhile career move.
