Pros
Teaches you how to become a well rounded manager if you can absorb the training. Pay is decent for the line of work. Not too bad of a 401k plan, company matches 100% of the first 4% and then 50% of the next 3% invested. Opportunity to move laterally around between stores and between departments is excellent.
Cons
Ever since the company was bought out by SuperValu, they have been playing catch up with the market. Ranging from technology, to sale items, to new push items. new programs coming out every couple of months only because Safeway or Kroger has had success with it. Promotions are based of who you know, not what you know. They keep hiring the same type of managers (have to be working for the company for so many years) and keep complaining about getting the same results. Its retail, if its a weekend or holiday plan to work and not spend time with your family during those times.
