Pros

-Management fantastic. Best leaders I've ever worked with -You can decide to surround yourself with the best people. They won't automatically come to you, so you have to make a conscious effort. If you do though, you'll be rewarded with relationships for a lifetime -You dictate what you work on. Not your boss, not your teammates. You decide

Cons

-If you are someone who "marches to the beat of their own drum" and ignores feedback. Don't join AWS -If you cannot iterate and improve yourself on a daily basis, don't join AWS -If you like being the smartest person in the room, don't join AWS -If you can't think expansively to improve yourself AND the others around you, don't join AWS -If you are not able to be a self-advocate by making sure people talk about you, but don't actively do it TOO much, then don't join AWS. If you don't know what I mean by this, you probably will be middle of the pack at AWS and can't figure out why you won't get promoted

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
