Pros

-amazing career opportunities -Big Firm with small offices gives you the best of both worlds. - In my first year I was able to have direct contact with clients, - In my second year I was doing a full small audit by myself - New senior management seem to be taking the firm in a new direction towards modernization - flexibility to experience different types of engagements and industries ( NTR, Review, Audit, NPO, Government, Private, PubCo, etc..)

Cons

- BDO's offices are organized by region and market size. We are a VERY small office, of only 6 people, but we are a satellite of an office in our "Large Market Region" this makes it difficult as the decision makers are all in a big city and have large market experience. They don't really understand how things work in a smaller community - some aspects BDO seems to be a bit behind the big 4, when it comes to cloud computing, bottom up training, and other new innovations

Pros

Compensation is OK. There are some really nice people in the organization to work with, but you have to find them.

Cons

If you are not part of the SWC "club" (company name prior to them joining BDO), good luck. Poor leadership!!! Practice lead talks to everyone like they are talking to a CEO, not relatable in most cases. No clear employee development plans. You are held accountable for things completely outside of your individual control. They stress incorporating AI into work strategy, but have no plan on what that looks like or how to do it and want everyone to formulate it because leadership has no roadmap. One has no control over where you want to take your career, yet you are expected to know everything, about everything. As a result, you become an expert of nothing! Work assigned rarely leverages skills, almost as if they throw darts to see who works on what.
