Pros

The team are all lovely, customers are great too and the purpose and values of the organisation meant a lot to me personally - I care about disability and homelessness and I felt like the organisation met these interests well. Work life balance was fair too. I also like how customer focused the organisation was...but it was all not enough because they just don't care about their staff!

Cons

Unfortunately the bank doesnt follow through on its values for staff. The pay is terrible - literally earning $30 000 less than in a comparable role at another organisation. This is not made up for my bonuses or other conditions. The bank don't even pay for staff Christmas parties, events, going away presents or birthdays. So you feel like your constantly chipping in to cover team events, to buy cake for birthdays, christmas and so on when you already are struggling with a sub-par salary. I found it really hard to justify this spending. And to top it all off, no payrises EVER, even if you are a high performer. There's not much career progression either, but I think that would be less of an issue if there were fair salaries and regular payrises that matched people's contribution and productivity. Execs and senior managers are paid well though, but more middle management tier staff can really get stuck on crappy pay, which is why I left.

Pros

A great example of doing finance differently

Cons

The company has great potential, but it is severely held back by poor upper and middle management. Team leadership often lacks key skills, is highly resistant to change, and feels threatened by anyone questioning the status quo. Career growth is rare or nonexistent, and employees who voice concerns face retaliation and gaslighting. Furthermore, HR fails to support staff and instead enables a toxic, unsafe work environment from the top down.
