Pros

The help, support and sympathy from team members (excluding managers) is about the only redeeming part of this job. They hire people with no experience so it's a good place to start your IT career, but I wouldn't recommend staying for longer than you have to.

Cons

- Managers are incompetent, treat you like a robot rather than a human, give you grief for going to the toilet outside of break times (you have to put yourself in a specific code because every second of your work day is tracked and recorded, regardless of whether you're in the office or at home), and will work you to the bone for nothing in return. - Awful pay, and in lieu of the bonus or pay rise they promise you, they gift you an apron and wordsearch/calender with a stock "thank you for your hard work" card (wish I was exaggerating). - Teams are hugely understaffed, meaning you are handling the workload of three or four people on a regular basis for not much more than minimum wage. - They do NOT practice what they preach in terms of their company values, other than their desire to make profit. They will put profit before any of their employees' welfare. - You are nothing but a number. The turnaround of staff is ridiculous because of the way employees are treated, and if you have any requirements (e.g. mental health, neurodiversity, other difficulties), they won't accommodate you no matter how hard you work for them. - When upper management ask for employee feedback, they do not actually respond to or act on anything employees suggest/request/ask. - They advertise themselves as great for career progression but it is virtually impossible to get out of the role you're in. You're much better off getting a job elsewhere. - Benefits are not worth the paper they're written on.

Pros

no specific positives to highlight from my perspective

Cons

I worked at CGI in both India and the USA and observed similar workplace culture concerns across both locations. The only real difference was HR—India HR felt more supportive, while my experience with USA HR was disappointing. My employment ended shortly after maternity leave due to an alleged “lack of projects,” which I experienced as a layoff. I also observed what appeared to be misuse of position by some leaders, including blurred professional boundaries, preferential treatment, and expectations that went beyond normal workplace roles—at times resembling personal-assistant-style demands rather than professional conduct. Surprisingly, I also noticed inconsistent “policies” applied differently to different individuals. In some cases, it felt like the rules changed depending on who you were. When leadership became aware that someone was related to another employee in the organization, it sometimes felt like that person was singled out or targeted rather than treated objectively. Overall, these practices—whether through inconsistent treatment, perceived power misuse, or favoritism—undermine trust, damage workplace culture, and raise serious concerns about fairness and professionalism.
