Centre for Liveable Cities

Is this your company?

Unproductive and unoriginal. General lethargy and lack of accountability. An organisation with no raison d'être - Anonymous employee Centre for Liveable Cities Employee Review

Pros

This is only a pro for slackers: between attending meetings, talks, and events, one could get away with doing very little.

Cons

Mental atrophy from non-technical and unrigorous nature of work. Most "research" involves purely qualitative interviews and writing verbose reports and decks with no productive value-add. Lack of purpose and direction. I overheard a colleague saying that they had no idea what they were doing here, or the purpose behind their projects -- and they had been working here for years. Poor quality of employees. Employees have no real skills, or their skills are not being fully utilised. I was really appalled at the quality of people, they're uninspired and frivolous and only concerned with appearing busy.

Pros

Able to understand what it's like working in the public sector.

Cons

No cons for now. I think the staff are pretty nice.

Pros

The work is very geared towards social science majors as it is a lot of demographic data interpretation, literature reviews and report writing.

Cons

None as an intern, as the full-timers really are very friendly and open to bouncing around ideas and challenges. Although the full-time staff seems very overworked.
