Pros

meet interesting people, get paid every 2 weeks, set schedule, get paid overtime on many holidays

Cons

set schedule , worked "relief shift" 4 day shifts followed by 2 graveyard shifts. called in sick once w/bronchitis, manager ignored so I had to go in. had seizure triggered by schedule, requested an adjustment and manager asked me to quit for it. negativity from some coworkers during shift, constantly had to tell homeless to leave for shoplifting , begging for money, and digging through trash, caught people w/drugs, cleaned up bathrooms after people shot up or smoked meth, got cussed out, harassed by people large homeless population spends time at chevron to shoplift, bathe and do drugs in bathroom, previous employee constantly neglected duties as a manager's favorite, was forced to perform their slack and correct the mistakes, my manager had only been manager for about a year, she disliked an employee and tried to get her to quit, too unexperienced, petty, immature to make good choices

Pros

The people at Chevron are great and overall it's a pretty good company - decent benefits and company culture. The 9/80 work schedule is a great perk. It has struggled to stay competitive with other big employers in California though.

Cons

Leadership has become increasingly out of touch, with regular re-organizations, lay-offs, and offshoring of support/operation functions disrupting day-to-day work and making processes even more slow and bureaucratic. Overall most employees are still wonderful to work with, but the constant leadership mantra of "do more with less" and removal of flexible/hybrid work has definitely reduced morale and made Chevron just another job, whereas it used to be a genuinely enjoyable place to work.
