Management - this cannot be stressed enough. When managers are hired, it should be because they have the appropriate experience and skill set to make a difference and lead a team. Hiring people for their personality alone does not lead to happy, engaged employees.
Compensation- it is low; cannot sustain a family on this compensation. If you have experience in the role you are in, you should be compensated fairly - there is no excuse otherwise. It boils down to appreciation. Being unjustly compensated is 1) not going to create happy employees 2) force GREAT employees to look elsewhere.
Hiring in general - whether its improper vetting procedures or general oversight, people need to be hired with the correct credentials. I understand that some job functions are taught, but bringing in someone that "has a different perspective" or someone that can "turn the team around" just means chaos and more headaches and confusion. A more watchful eye and immediate action (if problems arise) would greatly help this.
