Pros

Lovely portfolio of clients. Their clients treat you with decency, professionalism and integrity, which is surprising, as it isn't aligned with CoStartup&Go's ethos and the way they treat their staff. That is literally the ONLY positive about CSG.

Cons

Working for this company was one of the worst experiences of my 25 year career. I left a senior job with a sportswear company, and was offered 3 part time contracts. Costartup&Go was one of them. Costartup&Go asked me to work for them exclusively, and assured me that they had full-time work for me. I took their word for it, and rejected the other contracts. Out of the blue, they withdrew all of my accounts - yet told me there was no problem with my work. The "full time work" NEVER materialised (over 2 years of my working for them). They told me they have “didn’t have work”, yet simultaneously hired other people to do the same job. It would have been decent to be upfront vs keep me on reserve - which left me struggling financially. For those wondering about my capability, I’ve held senior jobs for 20 years + now run a highly successful business. My best advice to CSG is that reputation is important. Think twice about treating staff as though they are disposable. Clients DO care about what happens to ex-employees. It is bad PR AND hampers referrals. Clients wonder if they will be treated similarly, given questionable integrity! Prospective Employees : Take what you are ‘promised’ by this company with a pinch of salt. Don't accept 'offers' of apparent full time work from them, and hold onto other part time gigs if you are freelancer. They end up constructively dismissing most of their staff, or fire them if they find cheaper staff etc. CSG do/say WHATEVER they need to to maximise profits, including misrepresentation and manipulation. AND don't be surprised to receive rude, abusive and unprofessional emails from senior management. The high turnover of staff speaks for itself. Have an off the record chat with anyone that has been there for at least 4 months, and they will advise you on the high turnover.

I'm sorry that you feel that this wasn't a positive experience for you. This is a small company and we pay a wage that is in line with the level of work that we do. In line with all employee regulations and standards, we have a clear level of transparency and employee staff guidelines that we give to all of our staff. Regular weekly update calls with all staff, staff-wide e-mails and regular full team meetings together to update them on the business, clearly shows a level of transparency and respect. We believe in a high level of respect in our company and hold this with the utmost importance as a company. We believe in a strong work-life balance, honesty and integrity, as well as constructive and positive progression in our company.

Pros

Remote flexible working means you can work where you want and complete your hours when it suits you. Although you can’t see other members of the team/company face to face at the moment, there is still a great company culture with monthly zoom catch-ups and knowing that everyone is there to help each other. Sian, the founder is very open to new ideas and letting you own your own projects, with weekly calls checking in on progress.

Cons

Only con at the moment is you can’t regularly see others on the team due to Covid restrictions, but there’s still a great culture despite this.

Pros

The work is interesting and varied. She has given me a step in the direction I want to go with my career. My manager and director of the company listens, is always open to new ideas and supports work-life balance. I'm enjoying the varied work that you wouldn't get from bigger companies. The list of clients is fantastic and interesting.

Cons

If you are looking for full-time work, this isn't the place, but if you are looking for a step up in the right direction with an understanding manager and interesting work, then this is for you.
