Pros
Some of the volunteers were great. Services for clients were decent.
Cons
Ridiculous management. I can't believe this place is still in business. I worked there many years ago in an old, asbestos and lead-filled building that was undergoing a complete rehab. All tenants were paid to relocate. Dress for Success decided to stay and I guess pocket the funds they were supposed to use to vacate. I can't adequately describe how bad it was. In addition, they provided zero support, zero leadership - just unrealistic expectations. The final straw for me was after a fundraising event "Shop for Success" where a store was set up for people to come and shop. After the event, the large store was essentially 3/4 full of clothing, tables, cash registers, etc. All the volunteers went home and I, my husband, and my 13 yo special needs son had to take down the entire store, box everything up, drive a truck to Hollywood/Vine and unload everything there -- on a Sunday evening. After all these years, the 3 of us are truly still traumatized by the experience. There was no apology from DSS staff - nothing. That should tell you everything you need to know about the lack of decency, professionalism, and class of the people who work here. Disgusting!
