Pros

- Great benefits (generous time off/sick leave, health/dental/vision, life insurance, 401k with matching) - Observant types can absorb marketing and business fundamentals - Many people are friendly and nice - Looks good on a resume - Social environment can be a plus for some (There's a bar in the building.)

Cons

- Lack of marketing strategy. Produce now, think later attitude. - Terrible internal communication. Goals between departments not aligned. LOTS of redundant work. - Rush jobs and late hours tend to be a product of short-term thinking, not project importance. - No career path. I saw lots of outside hires for management positions, few internal promotions. - No career growth. Education and professional development almost nonexistent. - Little to no professional feedback. - Competing viewpoints, no clear direction or structure. Be prepared to undo months of work according to upper management whims. - Creative projects tend toward fact-checking and content management, not actual creativity. - Secretive, "inner circle" environment. You have to play the game. - Proposed changes are superficial (relaxed dress code, more couches) and don't address the real issues.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
