Pros

Youthful, upbeat work environment. Managers really go to extremes to make sure teams are staying motivated (can get a bit ridiculous at times). The company wants its workforce to be happy and maintain a good work-life balance. Generous bonus packages attached to monthly and quarterly sales goals. Free international trips and reduced fares for personal travel. Great benefits and 401K matching plus generous vacation time. Located in a great Swedish building with a big beautiful park, right on the Charles. Give employees the opportunity to take charge of their accounts and learn the business and how to make good business decisions.

Cons

The pay is really lousy for all of the responsibilities they expect of their employees. I have no fear of hard work and I was able to get the highest salary increase each year, but was still far below the market average for a sales position requiring such demands. The company will expect you to work overtime...and you will probably do a lot of it. It is hard to move out of the phone sales position...I worked my butt off for a year and made it to another position, but I was one of the lucky few. Then when the economy hit, they removed most of the non-sales positions and I found myself selling again. The turnover rate is very, very high given the low rate of pay and office stress level. You are working directly with teachers...who can really be quite crazy! You will get a lot of experience from this job, but it will not necessarily translate onto your resume...but, it will be something you can carry with you for future jobs. Sometimes it took all my willpower to walk through the doors in the morning.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
