Pros

Pay - though initially good.. doesn't matter if you are made redundant. Pension - typical IT company perk.

Cons

Post Accenture aquirment, there has been a LOT of offshoring. See Infinity Works for similar story. The focus is solely on CX / SF and FI consulting teams that they want for Accenture projects. All non-consulting roles offshored at the earliest opportunity with only a few left to pillage. Even an SDM role (typically recruited for in UK) was recently awarded to offshore with visa and 90% of UK based consultants are likely to be offshore on a visa. The service has fallen apart - Major customers leaving and lots more putting up for tender. Moral is at an all time low. Churn must higher than ever. Basically Accenture has done whats best for Accenture and the Edenhouse staff from Birmingham and Manchester are left to be managed out of the company in an auspicious way at the earliest opportunity.

Pros

Generally knowledgeable, experienced staff. Good social activities. Company has a social team who do a great job.

Cons

This used to be an excellent company to work for but things have been slowly falling apart over the last few years. This came to a head earlier this year when a significant number of people were made redundant. As you can probably guess, this made people jumpy and some started to leave. In many cases they have not been replaced. As the company now has more work to do than people to do it, it is putting those why remain under pressure to do more, leading to more people leaving, which leads to more pressure and so on. At the moment, people are leaving at a rate of about one a week, some areas of the office are mostly empty and it has the air or a company that's dying. The board, who used to very approachable and involved, are now distant and their plan for the company is unclear and shrouded in marketing mumbo-jumbo.

Pros

When I first started it was an exciting place to work, crazy, hectic but with ambition and direction.

Cons

The lack of investment and communication with employees started to decline post the equity investment. Having said that in my time there was no training investment you were left to do it for yourself. My previous and current employers encourage training support to the extent of questioning why you are not. This was not the edenhouse way, there way was to ensure your utilisation was over 80%. As time went on and the cohesion fell apart it was everyone for themselves and employee and customer care fell away. Then the redundancies came which was poorly handled without much in the way of care or sensitivity. I heard this included someone whose family had been killed in the days leading upto it with arguments over time taken off to be taken as holiday. I often wonder what happened to them. At the time you couldn't see how bad they were until you went somewhere else. This is what they prayed on, that you would be too scared to leave. I did have great times in the early days but they became disappointingly brutal and thoughtless in their treatment of people with lives. Only employer I've ever had I wouldnt recommend to anyone I cared about. Sad really.
