Cons
Esquel is a deceptive company headed by authoritarian and inhuman management. They pretend to be very open-minded and always educate new joiner “Independent critical thinker”. However, there is no room for discussion and demand unreasonably without considering staff’s workload. “Workplace political” are seen more common than improving the quality of the product or communication with teams. The company is controlled by the Yang’s family and opportunities will only give to those close with them. On my last day which I resigned on my own, the relationship between me and the management was very tense. HR did not sort to help me and no exit interview was conducted. My last day ended abruptly without a sentence of gratitude. Esquel still used formal performance appraisals and these appraisals disrespectful and untimely did not reward high performer or deal with poor performers. There is no point to work for them. The average age of staff was very high and headed by a 70+ years old chairman who thinks she still ruled the world (Textile industry). Honestly, these staffs were mostly unskilled and many MTs have left. There is no nurturing or development for junior staff. The discrimination of “MT” and “non-MTs” staffs by management is obvious and hard to get promotion being a “non MT” staffs. Things might have been change as no MT left in the company. The worst thing for this company was “outsiders manage insiders’. Several senior managements had limited experience in the field. Still, they were hired because of their education from renowned institutions. Turnover rate has been very high, many MTs have left from the company. There is no sense of recognition in working in this company and I do not recommend to anyone unless you would like to experience the HK style management.
