I'm a veteran in retail and this is the worst of retail employers. - Service Lead Forever 21 Employee Review

Pros

I guess the only pros I can really think of are getting to experience fashion trends quickly and first hand. It is a more trend/style focused setting instead of brand focused, so the options are endless. I worked in the largest store in my district (30,000 sq ft.) so I saw all the fashion the company had to offer.

Cons

It is not possible to do what is needed with the resources and payroll HQ supplies or allows. The technology there is archaic, and will fail commonly. The return policy is one of the worst ever, and even worse for employees who only have 10 days to get store credit rather than 21 days like customers. The way attendance is handled hurts business and the employees. You get your schedule that starts on Sundays the Wednesday before, so you only have 5 days notice of each scheduled week. Also there is no way to look at your schedule online or be notified in any other way than calling or coming in. But calling is frustrating because they store is so understaffed (because there just isn't enough allowable payroll) that often calls go unanswered. The way back stocked merchandise is kept is downright dangerous, and there is a lot of it. Change orders only come once a week, and we so frequently ran out of change that we'd have to go around the mall begging other stores for it. There are completely random months of the year (not business, inventory, seasonal, or holiday related) that are black out. That means no request offs, which makes the whole not knowing your schedule in advance thing pretty horrific. The stores are so insanely packed to the highest capacity of merchandise that it makes it hard to shop, hard to recover, hard to merchandise, hard to markdown, hard to complete floor sets. Yet they still want you to shove every little thing possible on to the floor. Sometimes we would receive upwards of 100 full boxes of shipment that are expected to be opened, unwrapped, sensored, hung, and filled by our 2-4 manned stock team within a 24hr turnover period of being shipped. Some boxes could contain 100 separate items of merch! It takes about 20min to completely process an average box, the company expects it done in 15min, but either way the math doesn't add up to it being humanly possible. And shipment isn't even the stock teams only responsibility. Well this is getting long and I could go on forever so I'll just end it here.
