Pros

- overall genuine and understanding management team (Steve and Robb were especially great to work with) - flexible scheduling (they try to schedule shifts that they need but will work with availability) - advancement and educational opportunities within the company (they really try to teach you about dog behavior and management) - overall friendly staff - communication with management and office staff is pretty efficient - spending time with dogs (of course) - company benefits for part time positions (min 30hours, I believe)

Cons

- some dogs/playgroups can be difficult to work with on some days - it's hard to find people who can truly understand and explain dog behaviors eloquently enough to learn from them (behaviors are quick and subtle & most people have a hard time concisely describing behaviors and how to manage them), so it can be a slow learning process - can be overwhelming if not usually around dogs very often - starting pay is relatively low (you can get raises but it may take some time)

Pros

Good training. Lots of experienced staff to learn from including dog trainers and receptionists and other sitters. Good tips occasionally from clients. Wonderful clients generally,

Cons

Poor pay for all the work, lots of driving. My car was hit while parked in DC and I (my insurance) had to pay for the damages. A lot of time driving, looking for parking and putting miles on your own car, plus wear and tear. Jobs can be far apart. People who have a passion for animals put a lot into this job for little pay,. You get asked to work at the last minute and often to go places out of the way. I actually had to do jobs while a family member was in intensive care. I asked the office to please find a sub for me for one day and was told no sub could fill in. I had to do the walks. I had subbed for many folks in the past - no problem - and now a family member of mine was dying and I was running around doing dog walks all over DC. It was awful. Family member died soon after and that incident of not being able to get out of work one day to be with them did it for me. But I always recommend this company to clients and still feel their services are top quality.
