Pros

I worked there many years ago in the 80s. Hopefully things are better now, but I can't think of anything positive to say about GVEC. Even all these years later, it's still the worst job I ever had.

Cons

Low pay. Not a single person in management gave a flip about the workers. On my first day on the job, the division manager told me that he was not going to give me a pay raise after my first 90 days as he said he would in the interview. I should have turned around and walked out. They had a watered down 401K plan that they boasted about all the time and acted as if we were all going to be rich like Microsoft employees after 20 years. The problem was, they retained all control of the plan and we couldn't even choose how to invest our money. That was the best benefit they had to offer. Even in the 80s, you couldn't afford their health insurance premiums. Thankfully we had insurance through my wife's job at the time. Speaking of which, my wife and I both had to work two jobs while I worked at this sweat shop of a company just so we could survive. This was not a workplace for humans.

Pros

There is strong collaboration between different departments, There are opportunities to grow and learn new tools and workflows to further yourself and your career. There is a supportive culture of growth here which is a breath of fresh air from other companies I have worked for

Cons

When teams are not collaborating communication between teams can be inconsistent

Pros

I was there for about 3 years before I placed my 2 weeks. I like the effort they have towards safety and making sure communication is important. They have weekly meetings to go over safety issues and things to look out for and the coworkers, as long as they don’t rat you out to management, are pretty good. Great benefits if I’m being honest.

Cons

My biggest issue is ever wanting to go anywhere. In my 3 years there I was constantly a top performer but still felt like I had to practically threaten to quit before I could get a decent raise. I was giving a “promotion” to a better position which was promised if performed at a high level I could be officially promoted which resulted in being misled and lied to. It seem like no matter what I did to try to be better, there was no going anywhere except in the same position where you are. I felt at some point and times that management was pushing against me when I desired to even “cross train” because, although in our slower season, we are too busy for you to cross train. Even when I was performing at my peak to the point were majority of the revenue was being provided because I could close, still I was not promoted into an actual sales position.
