Pros

Good health insurance, good 401k match, if your related to board members, or have a good relationship with the GM you will make upper management quickly with large salaries. If there is not a upper management position open they will make one for you.

Cons

Jack of all trades an ace of none (I am not permitted to be an ACE). GVEC loves to give in house training. You don't need to be certified in anything just know enough to do your job. Nobody know anything from start to finish but after it goes through 4 or 5 different people it might get done. If things don't go right we are very effective at pointing the finger at some one else.

Worst Job Ever

Pros

I worked there many years ago in the 80s. Hopefully things are better now, but I can't think of anything positive to say about GVEC. Even all these years later, it's still the worst job I ever had.

Cons

Low pay. Not a single person in management gave a flip about the workers. On my first day on the job, the division manager told me that he was not going to give me a pay raise after my first 90 days as he said he would in the interview. I should have turned around and walked out. They had a watered down 401K plan that they boasted about all the time and acted as if we were all going to be rich like Microsoft employees after 20 years. The problem was, they retained all control of the plan and we couldn't even choose how to invest our money. That was the best benefit they had to offer. Even in the 80s, you couldn't afford their health insurance premiums. Thankfully we had insurance through my wife's job at the time. Speaking of which, my wife and I both had to work two jobs while I worked at this sweat shop of a company just so we could survive. This was not a workplace for humans.
