Company has good benefits, great facilities and conveniences on campus, and does hire select very high potential people. Largely remains a scientifically strong organization

Don't rely on HR to deliver on their "employee promise" - they are there to cater to senior leadership and protect their proteges, even when those clearly display misogynistic tendencies. Never hear from HR during hiring process - resumes go into the HR black hole. And if you do get considered, they make you feel like you should be thrilled that they graced you with their attention Promotion process is vague and caters to favorites vs. those who deliver Depending on the group, can have a very toxic bro culture, largely fostered by the leaders of those groups A lot of unqualified insecure individuals in corporate leadership roles making it a very poor environment for high performing individuals
