Pros

Some good people work here still although that number is dwindling…fast.

Cons

Nepotism. Lack of accountability for upper management. Underpaid staff, lack of reviews and salary alignment. Constant re-structures. Lack of long term vision beyond acquisitions. Having been told I had to become a full time employee as there was to be no more contractors only to find several months later there were contractors all over the place was a shock but rebranding and restructuring is a way to get round that. Redundancies got rid of talented staff and killed morale only to then be forced into recruiting when they became understaffed, you guessed it, recruiting people with no skills, no experience and expecting existing staff to train them up in addition to already being overworked. Had reported into around 10 line managers over the last 3 years of my time there, not a single one did anything for my career and when having to go above any to try get pay or career changes these fell on deaf ears, constantly. You might like it here if you are in sales or dealing with customers as they are the only staff with career progression and amazingly get highlighted and treat to breaks away and other company events.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We recognise that change and restructuring can be challenging, and that consistency around progression, pay and support matters to people’s experience at work. We continue to review pay and development across the business and have introduced clearer frameworks, including MY Time, to support regular conversations about objectives, growth and career direction. We also run employee-led recognition programmes, such as Cheers to MY Peers and Pride of MY Peers, to ensure contributions are seen and valued across the organisation. As the business evolves, we remain focused on improving how we support our people and develop talent across Giacom.

Pros

There is a strong culture of collaboration among teams and the products are genuinely interesting to work on. People are skilled and supportive, and there is a lot of domain knowledge internally. Under different circumstances it would be a great environment for growth.

Cons

For UK-based developers there is no meaningful path forward. Internal engineering roles are restricted to the Czech Republic, and applications from UK staff are declined on that basis alone. Officially the company may say that roles are open to both locations, but the reality experienced by employees tells a different story. In practice the hiring decisions and internal mobility are overwhelmingly Brno-first, regardless of what is stated publicly. The Czech-first hiring direction appears to be driven by development leadership, and it sends a clear message about where the future technical organisation will sit. Pay reviews for UK staff are minimal, which only adds to the sense that the UK workforce is being deprioritised. The result is that talented and experienced colleagues are leaving because they cannot progress internally. A significant amount of institutional knowledge has already walked out the door. At this point, the only realistic way to move up is to leave.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We recognise how important progression and internal mobility are, particularly for colleagues who have spent time developing their skills here. We’re committed to developing and retaining talent across all our locations, and we continue to review how roles are structured and filled, taking into account team needs, collaboration and long-term development. We also have formal frameworks in place, including MY Time, to support regular conversations around development and career direction.
