Pros

Being able to help others in need on a large scale, by working with national non-profits is the biggest positive of GoodUnited. You end each day knowing you've put some good back into the world.

Cons

Leadership is tone deaf to issues they've created. They reward their "favorites" and are loyal to them to a fault. When the favorites lose revenue, contribute to a very negative company culture, and treat others with a lack of respect, the favorites get promoted or moved to another position. If you speak up with concerns, the "open-door policy" that is bragged about, comes back to bite you. Be careful what you say, and whom you say it to. The co-founders claim that they want everyone to have an equal voice in the room, all ideas are important, no matter what your position is. However, when things aren't going the way the co-founders expect them to they yell in staff meetings and blame the tribes on needing to "put more time in the office." Their virtues of "Do less, better" and "Fiercely take care of one another" go out the window immediately. There is no diversity at the company. Every full time employee is white, and all of the people in leadership positions are men, except for one woman. Layoffs have been happening for over a year and a half now. Two years in a row, they have laid off people the week of Christmas, and both of those rounds of layoffs included their only diverse hires. Budgeting adequately and paying attention to the overall financial health of the company don't seem to be a priority. Unfortunately, this impacts all of the employees who make it through each round of layoffs; their mental health, their capacity to do quality work, and their work/life balance.

Pros

Working with incredible nonprofits whose missions are truly changing the world is one of the most rewarding aspects of this company. While the work is not easy, it is deeply fulfilling to contribute each day to efforts that are genuinely making a difference. Supporting these organizations through social media fundraising allows them to continue their life-saving and life-changing work, which adds a strong sense of purpose to what we do. There is also a high level of autonomy at GoodUnited, which creates meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth. Employees are trusted to take ownership of their roles without micromanagement. Success here is driven by your own motivation and tenacity—you’re encouraged to continuously expand your knowledge and develop professionally.

Cons

GoodUnited is very much a startup environment, which means things move quickly and often unpredictably. To succeed, you need to be adaptable and comfortable with constant change. The team sets a high bar for performance and expects new hires to match that level of work ethic and drive from the start, which can feel overwhelming if you’re not accustomed to startup culture. This role also demands a proactive, self-starter mindset and a willingness to learn through trial and error. Because the work is closely tied to social media, the landscape can shift rapidly and without warning, often in ways that are frustrating and outside of your control. The pace is intense, and at times the work can feel grueling. Maintaining focus, creativity, and resilience is essential to consistently deliver high-quality results for nonprofit partners.

Pros

I’ve had a really positive experience at GoodUnited. What stands out most is how aligned the company is between what we promise and what we actually deliver. The platform is genuinely impactful for clients, and that makes the work feel meaningful and the conversations feel honest. Beyond that, I've witnessed major rollouts to the platform that directly address things our customers need/want to see. Product and Engineering are doing their thing & I'm confident in the direction of what we're creating. The team is another huge highlight. There’s a real sense of care and commitment across the organization, and people are incredibly generous with their time. If you ask for help, you’ll get thoughtful, detailed support from people who genuinely want you to succeed. The company sits in an interesting and exciting place. It has the energy and ownership of a startup, but also the foundation of long-standing clients and proven success. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, contributing beyond your immediate role, and helping shape how things evolve, it’s a great environment to be in. Overall, I’ve felt supported, challenged in the right ways, and excited about the direction the company is heading.

Cons

Onboarding and training has felt more self-directed at times. In my experience here, it has required some initiative to seek out information and connect the dots. That said, if you’re resourceful and proactive, you’ll ramp quickly, and the team is very supportive when you reach out.
