Pros

Having the opportunity to work for a leader in the retail industry, overall company is very involved with the community, healthy employer discounts at HEB, free item giveaways for employees, Company is always growing and looking for ways to improve Many free on site activities such as health fairs and vendor food fairs. Family oriented, Great work site as you are on the river walk at the HQ. Great company to have under your belt, as HEB is a industry leader. Debt free company.

Cons

Employees rarely get promoted for their actual work, but instead it is all about how many 'years' you have with HEB. Company puts years of service over actual talent, and everyone has that mind set. Very difficult to move up as HR has extremely broad requirements on positions, so you think you met the requirements but actually do not. Dept is very limited on when you can take vacation as only a few people of the same title can be out at same time, rotating time off every other year for when you cant take vacation; Christmas eve, new years eve etc. If you even mention that you shop anywhere else like most people do it is very much looked at negatively. Once you are in this dept any want to learn about systems or anything that is related (procurement, buying etc) is not allowed. No room to grow unless you plan to be there for 20+ years and become the old person who is an expert at everything. Lower payinig vs industry average. Many people work late every day and go in on weekends as the work load is very intense. If you do something well, you get rewarded with more work and same pay.

NO FULL-TIME OFFER! The recruitment process at H-E-B Digital is deeply frustrating and appears to lack integrity. Despite having relevant internship experience and receiving positive feedback during the interview process, I found that the company’s hiring strategy seems entirely reliant on prioritizing individuals recently laid off from FAANG companies. It feels as though they are not genuinely interested in developing new talent or giving equal consideration to qualified candidates who don't fit that specific profile. Advice for Management: Be transparent with applicants regarding your hiring criteria. It is demoralizing to waste time and emotional energy interviewing when the process feels like a box-checking exercise. If you are not actually hiring, do not string candidates along with positive feedback. The current approach reflects poorly on the company’s values and brand. Recommendation: If you are not a recent layoff from a major tech firm, I would suggest looking elsewhere. It appears to be their business model to prioritize those specific candidates over others, regardless of your personal qualifications or positive performance during interviews.
