Pros

You do work with a lot of great peers, and sometimes are capable of becoming on a first name basis with your customers.

Cons

From the very beginning they tell you all of the benefits, perks, and equality within their company. They say they have an "open door" policy regarding their managers and employees, where there is no retalliation against anyone. They lied. I was a manager in the front end and only made 30 cents more than the cashiers, the head managers who had been there for more than 10 years were the worst. They would lie to your face and accuse you of things you had no idea even happened. They would schedule you to work until 1am, then have you come in at 5:30 to open the next day. If you ever complained to HR or to a higher manager due to their "open door" policy, expect your hours to be cut and to never have a civil conversation again. They consistently revealed personal information to other employees, items of information that are supposed to be protected under federal law, yet would deny ever revealing it. They would change many people's schedules without any notice, and keep you for at least an hour over your scheduled leaving time, without breaks if it was busy. They would put only boys out in the parking lot, sometimes for 2-3 hours in 105 degree weather, and would rarely if ever send girls, claiming sexual equality all the while. They start new employees at higher wages than employees who've been there longer, somtimes dollars more. They eliminated a position called CCS, because they thought that it was unnecessary. However, they began using people as that position working them more hours, more responsibility, without a title, position, or more pay. If you're cross-trained in multiple departments, you're supposed to receive compensation. However you never get it. Now, they're slowly starting to revert to the ways of Wal-Mart by cutting the Bagger position, and having the carousel checkstands, a mistake that they will regret. This was once a great company to work for, now it's merely an illusion.

Pros

There were no pros at all.

Cons

My experience at the Frisco location was largely negative due to the store leadership team, headed by Stacie Sorenson. I found the management approach to be unsupportive and at times created a stressful work environment. I often felt singled out and treated differently because of my background and appearance, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome during my internship. Pay was not competitive compared to similar employers. Scheduling was often inconsistent and difficult to plan around. In my experience, HR tended to support store leadership rather than adequately addressing employee concerns. The quality of the internship experience varies greatly depending on the store and management team. There can be resentment from some employees toward interns, particularly from those who were interested in the program but were not selected. Communication, mentorship, and support were not at the level I expected from a company that promotes its internship program so heavily.
