Pros

The company has a genuinely inspiring mission that attracted a lot of passionate, talented people. It's great to feel like you're working on something meaningful. Some teams are filled with smart, caring individuals who are trying to make a difference.

Cons

Unfortunately, the mission alone isn't enough to make this a sustainable place to work. Burnout is rampant — long hours, including late-night and weekend work, are normalized. Teams are often understaffed and overcommitted, and leadership frequently changes scope mid-project, which leads to wasted work, confusion, and more stress. Pay is below industry standards, especially considering the workload and expectations. Career development and recognition are minimal, and feedback often goes unheard.

Pros

I work on the HG Institute side of the company and absolutely love it! The team is flexible to work with and really cares about me as a person. I've really respected the work the whole Healthy Gamer team has been doing to achieve accreditation for their courses and require certification from their coaches.

Cons

No specific cons to name. There are some normal growing pains with building teams and differentiating responsibilities, but everyone I've worked with has been open to positive communication.

Pros

Most people here genuinely care about helping people—especially gamers and people who don’t feel like they fit into traditional mental health spaces. Lots of support for coaches! You make your own schedule Leadership is super accessible. You can actually talk to the admin team or the CEO without going through a bunch of layers. They definitely don’t always get things right, but they own it when they mess up and usually try to improve things. They’re always respectful and professional, even when they haven’t exactly been shown the same courtesy. Honestly, they take tough feedback better than most companies I’ve worked with.

Cons

The platform itself can be frustrating at times. It doesn’t have the same ease or polish as others I’ve used, and that can slow things down. Things are still developing. Processes and communication can feel a bit disorganized or unclear. Client flow can be hit or miss, but you can keep clients for a long time! No 8 weeks and then they're done. No benefits since it’s a contract role, so you’re on your own for healthcare, PTO, etc.
