Pros

A medium business with good potential for ongoing growth. Roles seem to be well established if highly structured and there is evidence that some staff are doing well here. Lower management are well intentioned and personally friendly. A lot of great people work here and some do enjoy the work that they do. The company is still growing, and has potential to become a great place to work.

Cons

Many staff seemed to be quite unhappy and keen to move on to a more modern workplace. The company's vaunted culture of "hard work" sounds good in theory, but in practice this translates into a macho, risk-adverse, nervous culture where staff feel that they take all of the risk while the company reaps the rewards; and many feel poorly compensated for the work they do. Very high staff turnover, with many of the best staff leaving or treading water. Management unpopular and distrusted.

Thank you for your feedback. We take employee comments seriously, and we want you to know we're listening. It's disappointing to hear about unhappy staff, but we recognize that we have had a part to play in that. In the recent past, we let our salaries and expectations get out of line with the job market. That's on us, and it's something that we have worked to change. We have reviewed and updated our salary bands across the company -- and we've heard positive things in response. We know that valuing employees is a lot more than just compensation, though, so we're working on that every day. This includes continually supporting our staff to grow their skills and autonomy, as well as seeking input on our processes from our teams. We also take on-board your comments about managers managing instead of leading. From the top level down, we will continue to work towards our purpose as a management team: to foster a collaborative environment that achieves our company mission. We have recently instituted weekly training to ensure managers are as equipped as possible to support our staff. Our management team continues to work on uniting our departments towards our common goals. We're glad that you see what we see in our people -- and that you enjoyed working with your colleagues. We also appreciate that you recognize our growth path and potential for continued success. So thanks again for your review. We'll keep pushing ourselves to be the great place to work that we know we can be.
