Pros
Excellent benefits Great vacation and personal time availability Little higher than average pay
Cons
Senior managment and VPs are VERY out of touch with the average worker. They have no clue about the repurcussions of their actions down the chain, and they don't care to learn either. IBM operates like it is on the verge of bankruptcy. Expenses, resources, and test budgets have been cut to the bone. Now they are drilling for the marrow. Almost impossible to back-fill contractor team positions. IBM refuses to pay contractors what they are worth so turn over is high. How can I keep contractors on my team when IBM pays 14-18$ an hour and right down the road Cisco, Red Hat, NetApp and Nvidia are paying entry level contractors 23-28$ an hour? B-E-U-R-A-C-R-A-C-Y -- Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING has to be approved by four or more lines of management now. You can't get a roll of toilet paper without a Senior VP having to sign off on it.
