Big fish swallowing up small businesses - Consultant IQVIA Employee Review

Pros

I suppose this is not the worst place to start your career. In consulting, you will learn things while enjoying a decent work/life balance.

Cons

Massive corporate structure that uses many processes that make very little sense. Managers seem distant and detached. Computer/network problems occur at bare minimum once a month, necessitating a call to the help desk in India. For a technology company, this is embarrassing. Insanely little care for secure passwords. The quarterly emails from management always make me laugh by how little they inspire. (But maybe I am alone in not getting rallied up by talk of EBITDA). Maybe these people are good managers, but they sure are not good leaders. In terms of promotions, it seems like once you're in, you're unlikely to get promoted. They'd rather bring in outside talent and simply give you more responsibility with the same pay.

Pros

Resources and access to good studies to be successful in research, immediate PTO benefits, 401k match.

Cons

Growth opportunities/compensation - besides the annual merit raises of <3 percent I haven’t gotten a raise in 5 years.

Pros

Great pay initially, especially after negotiating. People are very smart and willing to meet for networking and learning opportunities. Flexibility and work life balance is by far the best perk - especially since many roles are fully remote.

Cons

Merit raises have been subpar the last 4 years and do not come close to keeping with inflation, consistently the company cites great EBITDA growth but that never is shown in bonuses nor merit raises despite receiving “exceeds expectations” ratings. Parental leave is a nominal. Very easy to get “lost in the sauce” of such a large company.
