Pros
When I look at the economy and instability in the job market, I'm reminded of how happy I am to be at Idaho Power. The company stresses stability, work-life balance, flexibility, and high (for Idaho) salaries while also helping us plan for our financial future and retirement. We have a lot of flexibility and a new WFH policy (3 days in the office, 2 at home) for most employees. It's always easy for me to attend anything I need to for my kids (appointments, field trips, sick days). The executive team is pretty great, and CEO Lisa Grow is amazing, very smart, and very brave!
Cons
There's definitely tension between the field and corporate employees. We have very different jobs, and at times, very different values. It's hard to make policies and provide employee benefits that fit everyone. I think we're working on making diversity progress, modernizing benefits (like enhanced parental leave), but it's very slow. There's a lot of career advancement opportunities in many parts of the company, but others can be more stagnant. Since so many people stay at Idaho Power for their full careers (which is great!), sometimes it feels like there aren't a lot of opportunities to move around or up.
